Let’s Talk Euros

I know that Americans are more hesitant to go to Europe now because of the exchange rate but Athens was very inexpensive. The average check for an espresso, gyro and a coke was 8 euros! And alcohol was also reasonably priced. Below is a list of my favorite spots. Oh and all of these locations have free WI-fi so you can check in on four square. ; )

  3. I’ve been in Sydney for two weeks, and I’m still gaping at the prices ($2+ for an apple at a grocery story, $71 for a shuttle to the airport 15 minutes away). I’m not even thinking about how the US dollar is worth less than the Australia dollar — even if it was 1 for 1, I’d still be feeling pretty broke!

It’s been about 10 years since I did Europe, but I don’t remember quite the sticker shock. I haven’t visited Greece yet, but I’d love to. Ancient Greece was one of my favorite historical periods, so I’d love to see the ruins and such.

Ooh Sydney is on my list. Big fan of Indie Aussie films. But yikes, $2 apples! No fruit salads for me. I’ve definitely heard about the cost of traveling in Australia. People have suggested New Zealand as a better option if I just wanted to visit Oceania.

Greece was so rich with history. It was interesting having a cappuccino next to ancient ruins. But all in a day’s work!

There are other countries in the EU that aren’t budget busters. Spain is one of them. It also depends on when you travel too, in terms of hotel, flight and tours.

      Thanks for the heads up!
